07 Sep Bitfinex Securities’ 1st Anniversary: Highlights and Outlook
A year ago, Bitfinex Securities became one of the first security token platforms to secure licensing for the listing and trading of tokenised securities. Since then, the team has been using its industry-leading experience, knowledge and trading engine to deliver a unique way for the modern trader to access tokenised equities, bonds and investment funds. We worked a lot and achieved a lot, but first, let’s go back to basics.
Bitfinex Securities History
On the 6th of September 2021, Bitfinex Securities Ltd., a provider of blockchain-based investment products, launched its regulated investment exchange in the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) — Bitfinex Securities —, aiming at increasing accessibility to a large set of financial products for members who wish to diversify their portfolio.
The platform was designed to facilitate the raising of capital for issuers seeking to have their tokenised securities publicly traded through an easily accessible “admission to trading” process. This meaningful step for the industry widened access to a variety of innovative financial products, including notably blockchain-based equities and bonds, along with investment funds.
With 24/7/365 trading and real-time settlement, The Bitfinex Securities platform offers investors and issuers advantages of liquidity and efficiency relative to traditional capital markets. Today, the platform successfully deploys leading-edge technologies to reduce costs, increase efficiency and optimise the success rate of capital raises, thus giving our investors an opportunity to obtain access to a low-cost, high-performing and global security trading market.
Since launch, we have successfully executed our first primary issuance and launched secondary trading in our first asset, the Blockstream Mining Note (BMN).
We were also proud to represent the digital asset industry and join more than 3,000 participants from 70 countries at the AIFC’s flagship finance and capital markets conference, Astana Finance Days.
Over the course of the past year, we have added a dedicated headcount to the team, established a robust assessment and listing process, designed internal audit procedures, and developed a pipeline of tokenised securities, including equity, debt, and funds across a variety of sectors and industries.
A lot has been achieved, but we are just getting started. Over the next year, we aim to expand Bitfinex Securities’ presence in the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and other jurisdictions, broaden our tokenisation capabilities, continue headcount growth, and bring many more high-quality assets to market. Fasten your seatbelts!
